Dressing for Your Body Type

Girls come in all shapes and sizes, it's one of the many things that make us unique. Knowing your body type is a great way to flatter your figure and boost your confidence. Here are the five main body types and how to dress accordingly:

HOURGLASS: Equal hips and bust with a highly accentuated waist.

  • DOs: Thick belts, A-line skirts, High waisted trousers, Plunging necklines. 
  • DONTS: Low ride jeans, Turtlenecks, Large ruffles, Bermuda shorts. 


STRAWBERRY: A fuller bust and broader shoulders with a more narrow hip.

  • DOs: Cargo pants, Long shirts, Pencil skirts, full skirts. 
  • DONTs: Bodycon dresses, Crew necklines, Shoulder pads, Umpire waists. 


PEAR: A more narrow bust with a wider hip.

  • DOs: Ruffled tops, Umpire waists, A-line skirts, Square necklines. 
  • DONTS: Skinny jeans, Cargo pants, Thick belts. 


APPLE: A rounder midsection often with slim arms and legs.

  • DOs: Bootcut jeans, Long tops, Wrap tops, Flowy sleeves. 
  • DONTs: Skinny Jeans, Bodycon dresses, Belts, Turtlenecks. 


BRICK: A very simple, athletic build with few curves.

  • DOs: Skinny Jeans, Pleated skirts, Wrap tops, Flowy tops. 
  • DONTs: Boyfriend jackets, Belts, High waisted trousers, Cargo pants.
